We are looking for a confident and committed Environmental Enforcement Supervisor to lead a frontline team responsible for tackling environmental offences and supporting cleaner, safer communities. This is a key leadership role that combines operational oversight with community engagement, supporting the delivery of effective enforcement services across issues such as littering, fly-tipping, dog fouling, waste offences, and anti-social behaviour.
As an environmental enforcement supervisor, you will manage and supervise a team of environmental enforcement officers, their effective co-ordination and deployment to deliver fair, proportionate and consistent environmental education and enforcement creatively and flexibly across the city. You will commit to strategic collaboration to deliver multi-partnership responses with other teams, key partners and agencies in order to educate, raise awareness, build community cohesion and undertake successful enforcement action against perpetrators of environmental crime.You will assist, support and contribute to the delivery of specific work projects, as required by the Head of Service and or the Waste Contract Manager, to contribute to team objectives and improvement of Council services.To meet the needs of the business, you will be required to attend occasional evening meetings.What you need to succeed
To be successful in this position, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently present to different audiences are highly essential for this role. Your application will not be considered if you do not have a full and valid driving licence.
It is essential that you have good knowledge of the following legislation:
- Good knowledge and understanding of relevant environmental and enforcement legislation including:-
- Clean Neighbourhoods Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Environment Act 1995,
- Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003. Town & Country Planning Act 1990,
- Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984,
- PSPOs,
- Other legislation associated with street scenes
