- To provide an efficient and cost effective social work service to Responsibilities children, young people and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed.
- To recruit, assess and support prospective adopters to ensure that the care that they provide meets the needs of the individual child.
- To gather, investigate, evaluate and analyse all necessary information on assigned cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidenced, conclusions and realistic action plans.
- To develop practice, which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having full regard to their education, social, recreational, and health needs.
- To ensure that all case work and adoption services comply with statutory requirements, regulation and the Council's policies and procedures
- To ensure that investigations, enquiries and assessments are completed to high professional standards and that each case has in place current Care Plans and Adoption Plans.
- Maintain adequate case recording on Care First as directed in the service procedures.
- To liase with and work in partnership with other agencies and Responsibilities organisations, collating Information for prospective Adopter Reports To undertake the recruitment, assessment, training and support of prospective adopters to enable them to meet the diverse needs of children within Southend Borough Council.
- To attend panels, conferences, reviews and court as required for each case presenting the Council plans and opinions with professionalism and integrity.
- To identify service enhancements and support the culture of continuous improvement.
- To prepare and submit written reports as and when required.
- To represent the team, group or department on working parties and at other meetings as required.
- To ensure the Team Manager is kept fully appraised of problems arising from workload and seek advice as and when necessary.
- To provide statistics relating to own workload as and when required.
- SWE Registration
- 1 year post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
- Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Full driving license and access to your own vehicle
- Knowledge of child protection, looked after children and associated child in need social work practice issues.
- Knowledge of methods of social work intervention.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues.
- Knowledge & understanding of adoption legislation Contempory knowledge of social work & their social work applications i.e. attachment theory, enabling change, behaviour management.
- Knowledge of methods of social work intervention Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working With children and families
- Practice experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting.
