Your new roleSouthend City Council are looking to appoint an experienced Youth Support Team Manager in a full-time, fixed-term capacity until June 2027.

The post will require the appointed candidate to lead the development of specific areas of Targeted Youth Support activity. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Targeted Youth Support Services, overseeing the delivery of youth workers delivering centre-based and outreach youth work provision. Have oversight of Shoebury Community Centre, Cluny Community Hub and managing Youth Workers/Positive Activity Workers and centre-based business support staff. Additional responsibilities are to be responsible for the management of complex cases, as and when required. Work in partnership with neighbourhood policing teams to deliver street-based outreach where and when it is most needed, ensuring that children, young people and family difficulties are identified before they have reached a point at which the children's development and well-being is seriously compromised.Help to tackle public perceptions of anti-social behaviour whilst working to strengthen the influence of vulnerable young people, their families and communities, in what activities are provided.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you must have a relevant professional qualification to degree level in Youth Justice, Careers, Education & Guidance, Youth & Community, Probation Service or Social Work, along with significant experience in youth work and the management of youth work provision, including the management of staff and preferably youth/community centres.

Have extensive knowledge of proven methods of youth work provision, knowledge of relevant legislation and a minimum of one year's experience of undertaking supervision of staff, including staff appraisals, identifying skills gaps or training needs, undertaking staff inductions and dealing with employee relations, including sickness, leave and absence.

There will be a need to have some flexibility and a willingness to vary and change work schedules and work unsociable hours.
