We are looking to recruit a Qualified Social Worker in the Fostering Kinship Team within Southend. The successful candidate will be working in a well-structured, organised team who are growing their social worker staffing levels.

The responsibilities of the Social Worker includes:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential kinship carers, including statutory checks and home safety assessments.
    Provide ongoing support and supervision to approved kinship carers.
  • Develop and review placement plans outlining care responsibilities, support, and arrangements for education, health, and family contact.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children in kinship care by recognizing and responding appropriately to signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Support contact arrangements between children and their parents, depending on the child's care status.
  • Liaise with other agencies, including police, teachers, and health workers, to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting kinship families.
  • Empower kinship carers to develop and maintain the capacity to cope without the need for statutory involvement where possible.
  • Provide kinship carers with information about their rights and available support, advocate on their behalf, and mobilize necessary resources.
  • Identify and obtain resources to meet the child's needs.
  • Ensure that children's wishes and feelings are central to decision-making.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team and with other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of work undertaken.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and training.
  • Adhere to relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Social Work England registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Social Work qualified (MA/BSc/DipSW/CQSW/MSc/BA)
