Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable teacher to join a specialist alternative provision within a Southsea-based secondary school. This full-time supply role offers the opportunity to deliver functional English, Maths, and Science to KS3 and KS4 students who benefit from a tailored and supportive learning environment.

About the Role:

As an Alternative Provision Teacher, you'll be part of a committed team focused on helping young people re-engage with education. You'll deliver structured, accessible lessons that build essential skills, confidence, and independence-while adapting your approach to meet a range of learning needs.

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment

  • Supporting students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other additional needs

  • Working collaboratively with support staff, families, and external agencies

  • Monitoring progress and contributing to individual learning plans

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being

  • Encouraging resilience, self-esteem, and personal growth

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching in alternative provision, SEN, or mainstream settings

  • Strong understanding of functional skills and differentiated teaching strategies

  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach to behaviour and engagement

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education

  • Willingness to take part in ongoing professional development

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate (or willingness to apply)

  • References available upon request

  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)

Why Join Prospero Teaching?
