Family Lawyer

Portsmouth or Waterlooville Office

Our client are a traditional firm with a proud heritage of over 150 years, built on establishing long-term, trusted relationships with their clients. Due to continued growth and a strong client base, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Family Lawyer to join the busy and dynamic team.

Our Family Department continues to flourish, supported by a robust business development strategy and an outstanding reputation. Our client are looking for a dedicated individual to contribute to this success.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor, ideally with 3+ years PQE, and possess varied, demonstrable experience in Private Family Law. You’ll manage your own caseload of private clients, with a small proportion of legal aid cases, shared equitably across the team. You’ll deliver proactive, practical legal advice while ensuring a timely and client-focused service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse family law caseload

  • Conduct advocacy where appropriate

  • Deliver client-centric, strategic legal advice

  • Build lasting relationships with clients from varied backgrounds

  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Family Department

Person Specification:
  • At least 3 years PQE (applications from those with equivalent experience also welcome)

  • Strong commitment to excellent client care

  • Effective communication with clients and colleagues at all levels

  • Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail

  • Capable of working under pressure and managing changing priorities

  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work independently

  • Confidence in managing expectations and maintaining professional relationships

Hours & Location:

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, based at either our clients Portsmouth or Waterlooville office. Part-time applications will also be considered.
