About the Role
Our client, a well-established Tier 1 contractor within the UK water industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join their dynamic delivery team in North Wales.

This position forms part of an expanding Minor Works Framework, a fast-paced and highly mobile programme of works where no two days are the same. The role demands a hands-on, adaptable engineer who can make professional, experience-based decisions while balancing client specifications, technical standards, and commercial objectives.

You’ll be at the forefront of delivering essential electrical projects within the water sector — ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality.

Key Purpose
To manage and coordinate all electrical project construction activities, ensuring project deliverables are achieved with respect to safety, quality, programme, and cost, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and support site teams and subcontractors, maintaining best-in-class safety performance.
  • Assemble and manage a competent project team; monitor individual and collective performance.
  • Implement and oversee management systems for design, procurement, manufacture, and installation of electrical components both on and off site.
  • Chair and record internal and external meetings, including site progress, safety, and design coordination sessions.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team on the procurement and management of subcontract packages.
  • Identify, coordinate, and manage third-party involvement where required.
  • Prepare accurate internal and external reports for project tracking and communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, and supply chain partners.
  • Resolve and close out technical and logistical issues promptly and effectively.
  • Prepare Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and company safety procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
  • Knowledge and understanding of IEE Regulations / BS 7671: Requirements for Electrical Installations.
  • Relevant CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline (ONC/HNC preferred).
  • Proven technical electrical knowledge in the water/utilities sector (clean and wastewater).
  • Experience managing NEC contracts.
  • Strong background in leading multidisciplinary site teams and managing subcontractors.
  • Proficient in IT and project management software.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience writing RAMS and applying CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction programmes and produce monthly client updates.
Desirable:
  • Prior experience delivering works under a Minor Works or Framework Agreement.
  • Demonstrated success working in fast-moving, reactive environments.
  • Previous experience with Water Utility Companies or Tier 1/2 contractors.
Personal Attributes
  • Decisive and confident, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • A natural leader who fosters teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Strong communicator — able to adapt tone and approach to suit audience and situation.
  • Organised and proactive, with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Embodies core values of Trust, Integrity, Quality, Respect, and Reliability.
  • Committed to innovation, professional development, and delivering excellence on every project.
  • Encourages continuous improvement and promotes a positive safety culture.
Why Join?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering critical infrastructure projects across North Wales. As part of a growing team supporting a Minor Works Framework, you’ll enjoy variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a genuine impact in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
