Chef Temp to Perm
Location: AL4 (Hertfordshire)
Salary: £35,000 per annum (rising to £38,000 after 3 months)
Contract: Temp to Perm, Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to support a busy Food & Beverage operation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced chef to step into a key role with real responsibility for menu delivery, food safety, and staff supervision.

The role offers a starting salary of £35,000, increasing to £38,000 after 3 months, with the chance to become a permanent member of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety

  • Lead by example in maintaining Health & Safety and HACCP standards.
  • Keep HACCP files and due diligence paperwork up to date.
  • Ensure all cleaning and food safety procedures are implemented and monitored.

Menu Delivery

  • Prepare and cook seasonal menus, including special dietary requirements.
  • Support menu development and cost control to budget.
  • Implement Natashas Law and ensure compliance with all food safety management systems.
  • Develop and cost specials to maximise revenue.

Customer Service

  • Deliver consistent, high-quality service and food standards.
  • Support continuous improvement by reporting any issues to management.
  • Assist in staff briefings to ensure the team is informed and motivated.

Staffing & Supervision

  • Supervise frontline team members, ensuring tasks are completed to standard.
  • Support staff training, particularly in food and knife safety.

Financial Control

  • Assist with stock control, wastage reporting, and accurate deliveries.
  • Undertake regular stock counts and ensure margin targets are achieved.

F&B Management Support

  • Ensure daily checklists and opening/closing procedures are followed.
  • Communicate proactively with duty managers and frontline staff.
  • Provide accurate information for daily handovers.

Working Hours

  • Average of 5 days out of 7, including at least one weekend day.
  • Flexibility required for weekends, bank holidays, and school holidays.
  • Business hours are typically 10:00am 5:30pm, but start/finish times will vary depending on operational needs.
