We are seeking an experienced Versatile Technical Services Manager - M&E Specialist to lead the mechanical and electrical services design for a major hospital refurbishment project for a building and construction company. This role is integral to the transformation of the ground floor and basement levels, incorporating the development of a new MRI suite and a state-of-the-art nuclear medicine facility.

Project Scope Includes:

Mechanical Services:

  • Chilled Water (CHW)
  • Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW)
  • Mechanical Ventilation
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Comfort Cooling
  • Quench Pipes (MRI)
  • Public Health Systems
  • Medical Gas Systems

Electrical Services:

  • Low Voltage (LV) Systems
  • Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) Systems including:
  • Data Infrastructure
  • Nurse Call Systems
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Fireman's Switches
  • MFSD Control Systems
  • Security and CCTV

Role Overview:

This is a hybrid role, based in St. Albans, with regular site visits to Earls Court and meetings at design consultants' offices as required. You will be responsible for the management and coordination of M&E services design across all RIBA stages from Stage 3 to Stage 6.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full design process for M&E services in conjunction with architectural and structural teams.
  • Lead the design team, ensuring compliance with Employer's Requirements (ERs).
  • Coordinate and participate in site surveys alongside design consultants.
  • Organise and manage design meetings, including agendas, minutes, and tracking programmes.
  • Collaborate with designers to identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Manage and track design information from specialist suppliers.
  • Review and coordinate drawing submissions and approvals within the project management system.
  • Support procurement and delivery planning in partnership with the internal management team.
  • Lead on commissioning activities and phased project handovers, including quality assurance of installed works and preparation of O&M/H&S documentation.
  • Ensure the client's PC checklist requirements are fulfilled.
  • Deliver consistent and comprehensive reporting on design, procurement, commissioning, and handover progress.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong background in M&E design management on complex healthcare or similar technical projects.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage consultant relationships.
  • Knowledge of hospital-specific building services systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with RIBA stages, commissioning, and compliance reporting
