Senior Underwriter - Bridging

Nouvo recruitment are working with a fantastic new client based in North London, who are looking for an experienced Underwriter to join their fast-growing team.

The role consists of:

  • Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure that, at a level appropriate to the position, appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance.
  • Review applications and financial requirements for risks requiring sophisticated underwriting skills. Determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Define appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements.
  • Prepare quotations and answer questions from Brokers, policyholders or other external contacts and escalate issues to management, along with proposed solutions as necessary.
  • Negotiate with Brokers to achieve positive and profitable outcomes.
  • Notify Brokers of adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status, and declinations.
  • Analyse quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepare reports for management review.
  • Market products and services through the brokerage community and make field visits. Develop and maintains Broker relationships.
  • May provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and to other functional areas, particularly when related to cross-sell opportunities.
  • Keep current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends and freely share information with others.
  • Utilise advanced functionality in relevant CNA systems to perform day-to-day activities.
  • Work with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
  • May perform additional duties as agreed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 2 years of experience within the Bridging Underwriting field.
  • Experience in FCA regulated loans.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Strong pipeline of cases which are fully kept up to date.
  • Always maintaining high level of judgement.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
