CNC xyz Machinist - St Austell - £32,000-£35,000 (Day Shift)

Our client, a leader in cutting-edge mechanical solutions, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join their Engineering Shop in St Austell. Specialising in precision, durability, and innovation, they support some of the world's toughest industries by designing, manufacturing, and maintaining high-performance equipment for extreme environments.

Role Overview

The xyz CNC Machinist will be responsible for machining one-off and small batch components for plant equipment, it will not suit someone looking to do just volume work. the work carried out is precise and a lot of one offs.

working from engineering drawings and internal specifications. This role requires expertise in operating XYZ lathes and milling machines, as well as programming CNC machinery.

the role will also involve welding and working on other large machines linked to engineering

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Program CNC machinery to meet precise specifications.
  • Machine components to high standards, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Interpret technical drawings and standards.
  • Conduct batch inspections at regular intervals as defined in the SOP.
  • Select and set the appropriate tools for each job.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Perform manual tasks up to 25kg in weight.
  • Maintain good discipline, organization, and housekeeping in the workspace.
Requirements:
  • Experience in CNC machining, including setting and operating lathes and milling machines.
  • CNC programming experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and works orders.
  • Competence in using measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience in manual machining, including lathes, grinding, and milling.
  • Familiarity with working within a safe system of work; safety accreditation (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH) is advantageous.
  • Experience working with steel is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
Working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts).
