Our client is a well established industrial manufacturing company based in St Helens who are currently recruiting an Engineering Manager

Description

Manage a mixed discipline engineering team.

Manage the Process Development department and provide trouble shooting, design, procurement, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.

Be proactive in site Health and Safety with focus on the Engineering aspects. This includes adherence to current health and safety legislation relevant to the type of equipment/process within the business area and extends in fulfilling forthcoming legislative requirements. Ensure all members of the maintenance team are engaged with Health and Safety and are able to contribute to improved performance.

Plan, manage and supervise the daily functions provided by the Engineering department in ensuring the highest levels of machine availability and utilising the appropriate techniques of Total Preventative Maintenance.

Monitor changes to both technology and regulation which may affect process, equipment or people related operations and be proactive in implementing improvements, working with external specialist or service providers.

Make capital expenditure proposals in accordance with both short and long term safety, production, quality and engineering requirements and be responsible for cost estimating and resource management

Manage the Engineering department maintenance budget and time manage the team in supporting the production process, investigating cost reduction and resource.

Manage the implementation of the site CapEx budget to ensure the timely and effective project approval and subsequent implementation and budget reviews.

Coordinate and direct the maintenance/service resource in accordance with production demand or quality focus and drive condition monitoring improvements in areas of aging plant/equipment

Provide a high level of technical support to the Process Development and Continuous Improvements department in improving processes, offering an in-depth knowledge of all site plant/equipment.

Manage and oversee the design, technical evaluation, installation and commission of new plant and equipment (including building extensions) ensuring the health and safety of both company and contract personnel.

Develop all team members within the Engineering department in both supervisory and trade roles (incl. apprentices) with a emphasis on safety, technical knowhow and Total Preventative Maintenance.

Offer technical support to the Production department in all areas.

Maintain close liaison with external design engineers, ensure plant and equipment meets operational requirements, relevant group standards and UK legislation.

Drive forward the introduction of lean manufacturing techniques, as appropriate across all areas within the operations department to enhance the performance of the business, to reduce losses and maximise operational efficiency travelling overseas when required

Profile

Proven experience leading a mixed discipline Engineering department (electrical or mechanical or both).

Strong leadership skills at management or senior management level

Be able to demonstrate the clear capability of improving the performance and development a solid engineering team.

You must have a track record of achievement as an Engineering Manager n manufacturing.
