GSL Education are seeking a caring and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEN School in St Leonards. This role is ideal for those with prior experience supporting children with special educational needs and a passion for making a genuine difference in their educational journey.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Helping students with different special needs like autism, ADHD, and emotional or mental health difficulties.
  • Working with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for each student.
  • Encouraging students to be more independent and behave well during the school day.
  • Supporting pupils in class so they can join in and understand lessons better.
  • Building trusting and friendly relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Helping students manage their feelings and develop good social skills.

Skills & Requirements for SEN TA:

  • Previous experience supporting children with special needs in schools or care settings.
  • Able to stay calm, patient, and positive even when things get tough.
  • A good understanding of how to keep children safe and support their learning needs.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
  • An up-to-date CV showing the last 10 years, with any breaks explained.
