A leading manufacturer of industrial off-highway diesel engines is currently looking for a Validation Engineer to join the team at their site based in Stafford. The position is paying up to 45.17 per hour based on a 37 hour week. Working hours are 8am to 16:30pm Monday to Thursday with a 13:00pm finish on a Friday. (Hours are flexible after discussion with the manager).
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engineering activity as part of the diesel product development activity, both individually and as the leader of the project teams. The role involves validation of the new diesel engine technology and systems, analysing data and trends, root cause, corrective action and validation of corrective actions. Other responsibilities include:
- Verification and validation of diesel engine components and systems
- Defining and managing engine and component validation plans
- Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test activity
- Data analysis and presentation of results
- Technical report writing
- Leading engineering project teams
- Root cause analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods (e.g. 8D)
- Presenting results and preparing technical reports
- Support the design function through participation in FMEA process
- Supporting process improvement activities and projects
- Conducting all work to operating procedures and local work methods in order to meet compliance with quality standards
- Collaborate with teams based at Stafford and Aurangabad facilities
- Occasional overseas travel may be necessary as required by business needs
Qualifications/Skills
- Engineering degree or other equivalent qualification/experience.
- Internal combustion engine validation planning and execution.
- Leading engineering project teams.
- Use of industry standard issue resolution methodologies (e.g. 8D).
- Data analysis including experience of data analysis tools (e.g. CANape, Matlab, etc.).
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Technical report writing to a high standard.
- Excellent organisation, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- PC literacy, including strong capabilities in all MS Office components.
Desirable
- Planning, conducting, and reporting on engine-based noise and vibration testing.
- Experience of new product introduction cycle for internal combustion engines or similar industry.
- Experience of continuous product improvement projects from issue identification through solution implementation for internal combustion engines or similar industry.
