HV Commissioning Engineer (National Grid)
12-month Contract

You'll play a key role in commissioning protection and control systems on HV substations (Apply online only)kV).

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering site acceptance testing and commissioning in line with SR141 procedures
  • Functional and performance testing of protection systems, control panels and secondary equipment

  • Witnessing FAT and ensuring all activities follow approved standards and methods

  • Managing commissioning documentation, drawings, reports and handover records

  • Creating and reviewing test plans, method statements and commissioning switching programmes

  • Deploying and verifying configuration files for SCADA BCUs, RTUs, protection relays and network devices

  • Managing site equipment, spares, LOTO procedures and safety documentation

  • Troubleshooting technical issues during commissioning and energisation

  • Coordinating with project managers, site teams and stakeholders

  • Promoting strong HSE culture on site


Skills needed:

  • Electrical engineering qualification or strong relevant experience

  • Current or previous National Grid SR141/BP141/TP141 authorisation (essential)

  • Extensive HV substation commissioning experience (Apply online only)kV)

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection relays, control schemes and industry standards

  • Experience with SCADA systems and deploying device configurations

  • Confident documentation and reporting skills

  • Strong teamwork, communication and leadership abilities

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
