The role of wiring technician is in the support of test equipment capabilities for the Engine controls and software section. The role involves the build and maintenance of the electrical load boxes for automated test equipment, along with other manual test equipment. The bespoke equipment comprises of electrical/electronic modules, harness related components and sub-systems and the associated mechanical housings.
Responsibilities of the Wiring Technician include
- Understanding and applying electrical schematic drawings and pinouts for complex Input/outputs from Electronic systems
- The ability to assemble and mechanically build test boxes to a schematic drawing, requiring good mechanical hand skills and ensuring quality in the result e.g. Drilling, tapping, using suitable hand tools
- The assembly of (non-production environment) cabling/harnesses to a schematic drawing and pinout e.g. cutting and crimping terminals, soldering and the assembly of connectors
- Delivering to need dates on multiple priority projects. Following safety procedures
- Quickly building good collaborative working relationships with peers and internal partners
- Good ability to utilise standard PC software packages of teams, outlook , MS office packages
Qualifications & Experience Required of the Wiring Technician
- Strong, proven practical electronic equipment assembly capabilities
- A technical qualification such as a relevant Level 3 apprenticeship, HNC or relevant work experience in lieu of this
- Experience in electrical, electronic, mechanical, control systems or automotive engineering Industries
- Panel wiring
- Providing focus on the internal engineers and their requirements
- Follow, develop and improve local processes
Competitive Hourly Rate - Umbrella OR PAYE
