About the Role

The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychology Teacher to join their thriving Social Sciences department. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking Psychology lessons across KS4 and KS5 in line with the national curriculum.

  • Plan and deliver lessons that encourage critical thinking, analysis, and application of psychological theories.

  • Teach a range of topics including cognitive, developmental, social, and biological psychology.

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring they are confident and well-prepared.

  • Assess, record, and report on student progress and attainment.

  • Provide constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.

  • Maintain discipline and encourage high standards of behaviour, punctuality, and effort.

  • Support students in developing research skills, essay writing, and exam techniques.

  • Organise and contribute to extracurricular activities such as psychology clubs, debates, or enrichment workshops.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work and innovative teaching strategies.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to support student development.

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and the wider life of the school community.




Key Skills & Qualities

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Strong subject knowledge in Psychology and a genuine passion for exploring human behaviour.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Effective classroom and behaviour management techniques.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.

  • Empathy, patience, and adaptability when working with students requiring additional support.




Essential Requirements

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Psychology in line with the national curriculum.

  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).




Desirable

  • Experience supporting students with SEN.

  • Experience leading extracurricular activities related to Psychology.
