Reports to: Service Manager
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00 (30-minute lunch break, 40 hours per week).

Overtime is highly likely, and weekend work may be required where necessary.

Summary

The Service Engineer will report directly to the Service Department Manager and will be responsible for all duties outlined below.

Primary Responsibilities for the service engineer

  • Aftermarket servicing and repair of equipment manufactured, both on customer sites globally and in the in-house workshop, including:
  • General inspection and testing
  • Measuring and recording resistance and insulation values
  • Ensuring compliance of wiring and protective devices with current legislation
  • Live electrical load testing
  • Documenting all technical data electronically and producing detailed reports for customers
  • Participation in product development and attendance at regular product review meetings
  • Commissioning new equipment on-site worldwide
  • Assisting other departments with testing of new Production and Rental equipment
  • Providing technical support to customers, remotely via phone or other media, to resolve urgent site breakdowns
  • Supporting Warranty processes through technical help for colleagues and customers

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Helping colleagues with part identification and PCB programming for dispatch
  • Assembly and testing of controllers and control cables for urgent parts orders, including soldering where needed

Qualifications

Qualifications (preferred but not essential) - NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation/Maintenance, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671), ECS card (preferable), Electrical test and Inspect, any relevant IOSH courses

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel internationally (typically for short durations of up to 5 days)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small but growing team
  • Must be confident working alone on-site with international customers
  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings
