Job Responsibilities

  • Handle complex legal cases, draft and negotiate documents for optimal client outcomes.

  • Represent clients in high-level meetings and conduct complex advocacy in various legal settings.

  • Support Legal Services Unit with complex cases and provide training as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with legal service quality standards and contribute to professional accreditation.

  • Meet chargeable hour targets and participate in marketing services when required.

  • Manage sensitive data securely according to policy.

  • Lead and support team members, appraising their work and professional growth.

  • Contribute to financial objectives and lead operational initiatives for best practices.

  • Engage in project work and assist senior management as needed.

  • Fulfill travel requirements locally, regionally, and nationally.

Person Specifications
Must Have

  • Qualified Solicitor, Lawyer, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX with practicing certificate.

  • Extensive legal experience in a relevant field.

  • Experience in managing or mentoring staff.

  • Strong understanding of relevant law and council work.

  • Proficiency in IT, including M365 and case management systems.

  • Excellent communication skills across various media.

  • Ability to draft complex legal documents and influence others.

  • Effective time management and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in local government legal work.

  • Experience with budget management.

  • Experience leading initiatives and project work.

  • Ability to adapt to changes and aim for continuous improvement.
