Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and advise on conferences and reviews for children in care.

  • Monitor and ensure quality standards in child protection and care planning.

  • Escalate concerns about children’s safety to appropriate authorities.

  • Oversee and review children’s education and health plans.

  • Promote collaboration with parents and other agencies.

  • Deliver training on safeguarding practices.

  • Implement restorative practices in child welfare.

  • Ensure feedback and policy development with partners.

  • Encourage involvement of children and carers in planning processes.

  • Contribute to safeguarding board and deliver related training.

  • Develop and implement council policies based on legislation.

  • Adapt to new technologies and tools for work efficiency.

  • Participate in child protection policy and guidance work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Person Specifications
Must Have

  • Professional qualification in social work.

  • 3+ years experience in statutory child care agency.

  • Experience supervising social work staff.

  • Knowledge of Children Act and related guidance.

  • Ability to chair formal meetings.

  • HCPC registration.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience using computers for record-keeping.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with respite care systems.

  • Training skills and use of evidence for development.

  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation techniques.
