About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced and motivated Social Workers and Senior Practitioners to join our dedicated Children's Social Work Services teams across Staffordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in children's lives, working across the spectrum of children's services.

You will be based within various teams across the county, so a broad understanding of children's social care is essential. This role includes complex case management, statutory assessments, and the opportunity to contribute to safeguarding and permanence outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of children and families, including those requiring statutory intervention, child protection, and court proceedings.

  • Undertake robust assessments, planning, and intervention with children and families, in line with statutory and regulatory frameworks.

  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, education, health, police, and other agencies to improve outcomes for children.

  • Ensure all casework is of a high professional standard and in accordance with local and national policies and best practices.

For Senior Practitioners / Advanced Social Workers, additional duties include:

  • Supervision and support of less experienced staff and students.

  • Practice development responsibilities such as contributing to training, induction, and reflective learning.

  • Modeling high-quality practice and acting as a source of expertise in complex case discussions.

  • Supporting Team Managers with quality assurance and promoting a learning culture within the team.

Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

  • Proven experience working with children and families in statutory settings.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2018).

  • Ability to manage risk, work under pressure, and produce timely, high-quality documentation.

  • For Senior Practitioner roles: experience in mentoring/supervising others or contributing to practice development is essential.
