PLC Systems Engineer

Location: Essex (commutable from East London / Kent)

The Role

We are working with a large, well-established manufacturing business to recruit a PLC Systems Engineer for a key production site in Essex. This is a permanent role offering long-term stability and the opportunity to take ownership of site-wide automation and control systems.

You will play a critical role in maintaining, improving, and developing PLC-based systems within a heavy manufacturing environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, commission, and maintain PLC systems

  • Fault-find and resolve PLC hardware and software issues

  • Optimise automation systems to improve plant efficiency and reliability

  • Support automation upgrades, modifications, and CAPEX projects

  • Manage change control and risk-based assessments for PLC systems

  • Support and develop engineers and technicians

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and safe systems of work



Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or similar

  • Strong PLC programming experience using Ladder Logic

  • Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs

  • Knowledge of SCADA, HMI systems, drives, and industrial networking

  • Background in heavy manufacturing, process, or industrial environments
