Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist children in our Solo Children Homes in Stanley. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children's development, ensuring their safety, and fostering a positive atmosphere. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives while developing valuable skills in childcare and support services.

Duties

  • Provide personalised support to the child, assisting with daily activities and routines
  • Implement and follow individualised care plans tailored to each child's needs
  • Support children during educational, recreational, and social activities
  • Assist with transportation needs, including driving children to appointments or activities where necessary
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times within the environment
  • Support children's emotional and behavioural development through positive engagement
  • Keep accurate records of care provided and any incidents or concerns
  • Support the child and team in more challenging situations

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a childcare, residential or support setting is desirable
  • Valid driving licence is desirable
  • Knowledge of child development principles and childcare best practices
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with children, families, and team members
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and reporting purposes
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in supporting children's growth and wellbeing
  • Ability to work flexibly according to organisational needs
  • Relevant qualification, ideally a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People or equivalent.
