Fitter - Compressed Gases

Location: Stansted

We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join our team in Stansted, working with compressed gas valve and cylinder assemblies. This hands-on role involves repairing, testing, and overhauling components to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strip down valve assemblies and replace standard spares during overhauls
  • Inspect individual parts and replace defective items
  • Thoroughly clean components and build valve assemblies ready for testing
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of cylinders in line with Department of Transport requirements
  • Reassemble valve and cylinder components
  • Charge complete assemblies to pressures of up to 4500 PSI
  • Provide ad hoc support to the safety inflatable team as required

Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior experience interpreting and following detailed compliance manuals (essential)
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work reliably within small, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining quality and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Positive, motivated and enthusiastic approach to work
