We are supporting a client who is in need of an experienced Tax Specialist to support them on an interim basis.

Role Overview

This is a broad role supporting a US listed company, covering a lot of complex responsibilities within tax & wider finance.

The main purpose of the role would be to:

  • Oversee the entire UK tax compliance process from initiation to return submission.

The role can be broken down into the following areas:

UK Tax Compliance

  • Oversee the entire UK tax compliance process, from initiation to submission of returns.
  • Draft UK tax computations.
  • Analyse and review ledgers for provisions and disallowable expenses.
  • Maximise capital allowance claims through detailed capex analysis.
  • Analyse changes in the income statement to ensure tax compliance with UK regulations.
  • Provide draft tax returns to managers, highlighting key areas for review.
  • Explore opportunities to enhance the UK group tax position.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, drafting technical memos for review.
  • Respond to HMRC queries and assist with the annual Business Risk Review process.

UK Statutory Accounts Preparation

  • Collaborate with the regional finance team to prepare tax provisions for UK statutory accounts.
  • Respond to HMRC queries and audit questions.
  • Offer technical and non-technical support during HMRC's annual Business Risk Review.

US GAAP Tax Provisioning:

  • Assist in year-end and quarterly reporting under US GAAP
  • Prepare detailed calculations for current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Calculate prior period adjustments and liaise with the Group's auditors.

International Tax Compliance/Administration:

  • Coordinate global compliance, ensuring timely filings.
  • Assist in preparing transfer pricing documentation.
  • Reporting for the UK sub-group.
  • Supporting US teams on ad hoc tax compliance.
  • Prepare detailed calculations for current and deferred taxes.
  • Calculate prior period adjustments and draft journals for tax provision postings.

Indirect Tax Compliance:

  • Review UK VAT returns for specific sub-groups and provide ad-hoc VAT advice.
  • Address VAT queries and tax return submissions.
  • Provide support for US tax compliance requirements and liaise with HMRC.
  • Offer support for UK employer taxes as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with intra-group planning projects, including cash repatriation and entity rationalisation.
  • Prepare and submit internal approvals within governance frameworks.
  • Balance workloads in a complex environment, prioritising tasks and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Assist in drafting the annual UK Tax Strategy and review UK share scheme returns.

Experience Required:

  • Qualified Accountant (desirable to also be ATT or CTA qualified or studying)
  • Extensive knowledge of UK corporation tax for large group companies.
  • Familiarity with VAT and SAP for data manipulation and extraction.
  • Experience with transfer pricing.
