IntroductionWe are working with a community-driven social housing provider in Hertfordshire to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant. This is a great opportunity to join a small, close-knit organisation where you can take ownership of key technical accounting responsibilities while developing your career in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the fixed asset register, including assisiting on their development portfolio

  • Help with the balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts

  • Support the production of financial statements and year-end processes

  • Prepare and manage VAT returns in line with regulations

Person Specification

  • Strong knowledge of fixed assets, ideally with experience of housing-related asset registers

  • Experience of depreciation, disposals, and high-volume, complex data management on a FAR

  • Part-qualified accountant (actively studying), ideally over halfway through exams

  • Practical experience in journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Comfortable with audit processes and supporting year-end

  • Strong Excel skills and good systems proficiency

  • A proactive, confident personality with the ability to challenge and bring fresh ideas
