Salary: C. £50,000 (DoE) + Bonus

Experience needed: We're looking for a skilled test engineer with a strong background in electrical/electronic testing, new product introduction, and production test readiness within a complex aerospace or manufacturing environment.

About the role:

An exciting opportunity has opened to join a leading manufacturing team as a Principal Test Engineer, playing a key role in shaping how production testing is delivered for future systems and sub-systems.

Working within a New Product Introduction (NPI) environment, you'll define test requirements and lead test readiness activities during prototype and initial development phases, ensuring that new capabilities are delivered to time, cost, and quality. This is a hands-on, influential position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys cross-functional collaboration from early design through to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain test requirements for new electrical/electronic systems
  • Drive production test readiness and support functional/ESS testing of prototypes
  • Develop initial process flows and test architecture in collaboration with project teams
  • Create and manage Manufacturing Test Requirement Specifications (MTRS)
  • Provide input into Process FMEAs and ensure test mitigations are in place
  • Liaise with design and test equipment teams to develop and validate test solutions
  • Lead Production Readiness Reviews and Industrialisation Reviews for new products
  • Estimate testing effort and support validation of production costing metrics
  • Maintain test documentation and validation plans across systems and sub-systems

What we need from you:

  • Strong background in digital and analogue electronics testing within manufacturing
  • Solid understanding of electrical/electronic test principles and equipment
  • Experience in defining test strategies, processes, and validation documentation
  • Exposure to RF technology and systems-level functional testing is desirable
  • Experience in new product introduction and production test readiness is highly beneficial
