Morson is recruiting for a contract role with a leading defense equipment manufacturer in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, requiring SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance eligibility.
The position offers a pay rate of £17.80 per hour for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £18.80 per hour PAYE, or £23.91 per hour rising to £25.26 per hour Umbrella, and is classified as INSIDE IR35.
Candidates must have prior experience in stores or inventory management, and a valid forklift license or relevant forklift driving experience is essential.
Responsibilities include stock control, loading manufacturing cells, packing, and updating computer records, with a focus on attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Excel and an Enterprise Planning System like SAP or Oracle is preferred, along with a willingness to work flexible shift patterns.

Overview of department:

Working within a state-of-the-art defence manufacturing facility the role will involve issue, receipt and management of stores and inventory in a stores/lineside environment. Loading, control and monitoring of work packages in a manufacturing environment

*suitable candidates MUST have either valid forklift license and/or forklift driving experience*

Responsibilities:

Stock control / storekeeping including shelf life control
Forklift truck driving
Loading the manufacturing cells with the requisite jobs in accordance with planned lead and cycle times, in order to comply with manufacturing programmes and delivery schedules
Packing including the use of hand tools. Receiving and issuing of tooling
Updating computer records
Kitting activity
Loading and unloading of Lorries

Skillset/experience required:

MUST have prior Stores/Inventory experience
Computer literate, comfortable and capable with software such as Microsoft Excel
Fork lift truck licence would be ideal, failing that prior forklift truck driving experience will suffice
Any familiarity with an Enterprise Planning System e.g. SAP, Oracle etc would be highly beneficial
Able to follow instructions
Willing to work flexible shift patterns
Attention to detail
Work on own with minimal supervision
Use own initiative
Any knowledge of Kanban and 2 bin systems would be desirable
