THE ROLE: LEGAL SECRETARY/PARALEGAL

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary / Paralegal to join their Wills, Trusts, and Probate Department.

The Role:

A motivated and experienced Wills, Trusts, and Probate Legal Secretary or Paralegal to join their team in Stevenage. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of relevant experience and a strong passion for assisting clients in planning their Estates and navigating probate proceedings, lasting powers of attorney and deputyships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Admin work
  • Taking telephone enquiries
  • Assisting the Director in drafting Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax forms, Estate Summaries, Declaration of Trusts and other estate planning documents.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing case summaries.
  • Managing and organising client files and documents.
  • Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, and other parties involved in estate matters.
  • Preparing and filing probate applications and related documents.
  • Attending clients for Will enquiries.
  • Assisting with estate administration tasks, including asset valuation and distribution.
  • Providing support during probate litigation proceedings, if necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases.
  • Conveyancing experience highly desirable.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience working as a legal assistant in the field of Wills, Trusts, and Probate.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and procedures related to estate planning and probate administration.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (including LEAP).
  • Ideally a Law Degree

Skills & Requirements: Our clients will accept applications from either an experienced Legal Secretary or a Paralegal seeking to enhance their legal career. *Legal Drafting skills desired (1 year required) and Wills Trusts and Probate experience 1 year (required).
