Quantity Surveyor

55,000 - 70,000 per annum

gap construction is proud to be representing a well-established main contractor in their search for a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor in central Hertfordshire.

Projects will vary in nature but include high-profile, complex projects across the commercial, education, industrial, retail, and residential sectors in Hertfordshire and into London.

Performance Objectives

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.
  • Monitor and manage project costs to ensure they remain within agreed budgets.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and prepare variance reports, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Lead procurement activities, including the preparation of tender documentation and the evaluation of bids.
  • Oversee contract management, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all projects comply with health and safety regulations, contractual obligations, and company standards.
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, records, and correspondence.

Person Specification

  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry is essential.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities to meet project deadlines.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a focus on delivering results.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • A thorough understanding of construction processes and contractual law is advantageous.
