Quantum Scholars are working closely with a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school based in Hertfordshire to find a passionate and dynamic Head of Department for Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience teaching up to A-Level(11-18 years old). This will be a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2025.

The school hiring are located in Hertfordshire. It is a mixed-comprehensive secondary school with a sixth form that caters to students aged 11-18 years old. They're rated as a "Good" school by Ofsted.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Computer Science at Key Stage 3 & 4, with potential for Key Stage 5 in the future
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire students to excel in the subject
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and contribute to school improvement
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in Computer Science and educational technology
  • Support extra-curricular activities that promote students' interest in technology and coding

Key Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • A teaching qualification (QTS) or a commitment to achieving it
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Computer Science
  • Previous teaching experience teaching Computer Science to secondary school level!
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate students at various levels of ability
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach to working within a team
  • Must have leadership experience
  • Must be available for September 2025!
