Accounts Assistant PermanentBased just outside Steyning (hybrid - 3 days in the office)£23,000 - £26,250 per annum plus further benefits and study support if needed

Tony Alan Recruitment currently has an exciting job opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join a well known business just outside the Steyning area on a permanent basis. You’ll be part of a large finance team, working alongside exceptional individuals and supporting transactional work within the accounts department.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing purchase ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely supplier payments
  • Posting bank statements and reconciling the cash book
  • Supporting the operational team to ensure accurate dealership banking postings
  • Maintaining control systems while monitoring sales ledger accounts, ensuring sums owed are paid within agreed terms.

This role would suit a college or university leaver or an active studier (ACCA, CIMA, AAT) looking to take their next step in an accountancy and finance career. Please see further details:

Your duties will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices and reconciling supplier statements
  • Managing aged credit reports and reconciling balances
  • Preparing supplier payment runs and BACS submissions
  • Processing new supplier requests and setting up accounts
  • Daily reconciliation of bank postings and uploading BACS payments
  • Managing sales ledger duties including credit applications and chasing outstanding balances
  • Posting intercompany journals to clear debtor and creditor accounts
  • Assisting with month-end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Managing the accounts payable email inbox.

Key requirements:

  • A desire to pursue a career in accountancy and finance
  • Ideally studying towards a professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, AAT)
  • Good level of education (A-Levels/Degree)
  • Good understanding of Excel
