School Caretaker | Steyning | £23,000 - £26,000 per annum | Full-Time | PermanentThis school is seeking a reliable, hands-on School Caretaker to join their team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This vital role supports the day-to-day running of the school premises and contributes to the overall wellbeing of our school community.Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs on the school site.
- Ensure the school grounds are tidy, safe, and accessible.
- Oversee site security, including opening and locking up the premises.
- Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
- Support with room setups for school events and activities.
- Liaise with contractors and manage site access when needed.
- Respond to emergency callouts and health and safety issues promptly.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in care-taking, facilities, or maintenance role (school experience desirable).
- Practical DIY skills and familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
- Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Flexible, proactive, and committed to high standards.
- A full UK driving licence may be required depending on site needs.
