We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced General Foreman to lead the safe and efficient execution of civil engineering projects. This role is an opportunity to make a significant impact, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership skills, a focus on health and safety, and strong technical expertise in earthworks and reinforced concrete (RC) structures.

Responsibilities

As a General Foreman, your key duties will include:

  • Managing labour, plant, and materials to meet programme schedules, cost constraints, and quality objectives.
  • Overseeing site health and safety, ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are in place and strictly adhered to.
  • Supervising the direct workforce and subcontractors, particularly on projects involving earthworks and RC structures.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, planning works effectively, and maintaining accurate site records.
  • Holding daily briefings with team members and maintaining ongoing communication with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A proven track record of success in civil engineering and earthworks.
  • Strong leadership abilities, coupled with in-depth knowledge of health and safety practices (e.g., certification in SMSTS or SSSTS, and First Aid training).
  • Competent IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on substation projects or in the energy sector.
  • Certification in HSG47 Service Avoidance, or a willingness to obtain this qualification.
