Early Years Practitioner

Location: Stirling, FK8 1AF

Salary: £12.60 per hour

The Role

To be involved in planning, supervision and facilitating an appropriately balanced early years learning experiences that follow Curriculum for Excellence and the Pre-Birth to Three Curriculum. Whilst providing a caring, safe and welcoming environment for children, which will allow each child to develop at their own rate. Current national guidance and other relevant documentation will guide planning along with child lead learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe, record and plan through interaction, the needs of individual children
  • Monitor and evaluate children's development through Individual Learning Development (ILD) and Learning Intentions and implement action plans
  • Work alongside parents when planning for each individual child. Support and develop parental participation and relations with the community.
  • Implement the appropriate curriculum by ensuring room is fully resourced and facilitate learning experiences for the children.
  • Ensure a child lead environment to enable children's learning through play and appropriate learning experiences.
  • Implement and raise awareness of equality within the Nursery
  • Promote Well Being, Literacy and Mathematics development in all areas of the setting.
  • Respond to the physical needs of children, e.g. toileting, nappy changing,
  • Provide appropriate learning experiences for children with additional support needs, relevant to the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Implement child protection procedures and support children and families through changes in their lifestyles.
  • Participate in outings whilst adhering to health and safety guidelines..
  • Work co-operatively and effectively within a professional team whilst respecting each person's abilities and aptitudes.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals from a variety of disciplines.
  • Contribute to staff meetings relating to all relevant and current topics.
  • Be a Positive Role Model.
  • Participate in appropriate training, share knowledge and good practice with staff team. Training must be detailed in CPD folder.
  • You must be registered with the SSSC or an equivalent registered body.
  • You are required to follow company policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Possess a HNC or SVQ III in Childcare and Education or equivalent. You must be registered or gain your registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
    • The individual development needs of young children
    • The central role of parents / carers in the lives of young children and respect this role.
    • Local and National guidelines, Curriculum, childcare provision and procedures.
