EXPERIENCE GENERAL MANAGER

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a General Manager at the prestigious Greyhound on the Test in Stockbridge, a boutique hotel in the heart of the Test Valley and situated on the banks of the river test. The successful candidate will have full autonomy and must have a proven track record, with a high standard hospitality background and experience in hotel operations, revenue management, food, beverage and leisure and be capable of delivering the highest service and operational standards whilst helping to develop and grow the business, along with recruiting, leading and developing a well-motivated team.

Duties:

  • Ensuring that the business adheres to various legal frameworks and takes responsibility for hotel safety and security.
  • Maintaining health and safety standards in the business at all times.
  • Recruiting, training and managing staff.
  • Working with the accounts team to ensure all relevant and required information is passed across.
  • Liaising with customers (including serving food and drink).
  • Monitoring profitability and performance to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded. Involved in the formation and monitoring of budgets.
  • Ensuring that high standards of customer service are maintained and measured.
  • Overseeing stock control, and monitoring and maintaining budgeted Gross Profit margins.
  • Re-stocking the venue (involves physical work) which incorporates stocktaking.
  • Attend a monthly board meeting with the Directors to assess business performance and set sales targets, monthly statistics and pricing.
  • Lead meetings to update and motivate staff.
  • Daily and weekly reports creation and management to manage the business.
  • Interact with a wide variety of people, including customers, bar staff, members of the local community and the police. Hotel managers also have contact with alcohol licensing authorities, suppliers and trades people, such as electricians and furniture restorers.
  • Day to day maintenance of the building – reporting any issues to the Directors and building a capital budget.
  • Overseeing all reservations and function bookings.
  • Follow company procedures in respect of handling cash.
  • Ensure that legal requirements are adhered to. These include, but are not restricted to: Licensing Laws, Trade Descriptions Act, Weights and Measures Act, Food Hygiene Regulations, Health & Safety at Work, C.O.S.H.H and Manual Handling Regulations
