Stockport Council are looking for a Grave Digger to join their team at the Borough Cemetery. This role involves significant physical activity, including digging and grounds maintenance. It is a vital position that helps maintain the dignity and appearance of our cemetery.
Day-to-day of the role:- Perform grave-digging duties as required.
- Conduct general grounds maintenance to ensure the cemetery is kept in a respectful and orderly condition.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, performing physical tasks.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Previous Gravedigging experience is desirable, machine excavation, hand excavation, and backfilling excavation.
- Physical ability to carry out lifting, handling and hand excavation.
- Ability to work to timescales, sometimes under pressure and be able to follow instructions
- Familiarity with installation of excavation shoring, and all Health and Safety implications
- Previous Experience of using mechanical excavator (Bobcat 1.7 series).
- Experience of using Thwaites Dumper (1 Tonne).
- Physically fit and healthy, capable of extensive digging and manual labor.
- Valid Basic DBS check (required for the role).
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cemetery upkeep.
