Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Required!
Our client is a well-established, family-owned engineering business specialising in bespoke machinery and processing systems for the food industry.
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their technical team. The successful candidate will manage specialist design projects from concept to completion, engage with customers, produce detailed designs, and oversee projects through manufacturing.
Package:
- 40 hour working week (8am-5pm Monday - Thursday & 8am - 2pm Fridays)
- 23 days holiday + bank holidays
- Company pension
- Salary 50,000 - 60,000 (DOE)
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Responsibilities:
- Full accountability for the design of customer-specific and mission-critical projects.
- Lead management of mechanical designers, including design review and approval.
- Conduct regular design meetings, providing effective communication and change management.
- Support technical strategy and provide engineering input throughout project stages, including installation and commissioning.
- Maintain a technical audit trail through design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Deliver projects successfully with high-quality design, on time and within budget.
- Resolve design challenges proactively.
- Communicate effectively with the Design Project Manager to plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem solve.
- Act as design lead, managing mechanical design from customer requirements to final assembly.
- Produce operation and maintenance manuals.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Requirements:
- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng / MEng).
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD software and SolidWorks PDM Vaults.
- Experience designing mechanical parts, pipework, assemblies, and enclosures.
- Knowledge of motion types, pneumatic systems, bearings, linear slide assemblies, ball screws, and mechanical systems.
- Understanding of metal fabrication processes and machine tool capabilities (milling, lathe, etc.).
- Ability to assess and align designs with customer requirements, internal engineering standards, and supplier capabilities.
