S&D Trade Recruitment is working alongside a leading manufacturing company, part of an international group, to recruit a Technical Design Engineer. Based in Bredbury, this well-established organisation delivers high-quality engineered solutions to clients across a variety of industrial sectors.
As a Technical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating and specifying systems in line with project requirements and industry regulations. The position involves close collaboration with sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure practical and accurate technical outputs. Working hours Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00, Friday: 07:30 to 12:50 (38 hours per week). Salary £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Technical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and develop technical systems for use in a range of commercial and industrial environments.
- Produce drawings, schematics, and layout plans using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD tools.
- Perform system calculations and select suitable components, control units, and insulation.
- Collaborate with project and installation teams to ensure designs meet practical and technical requirements.
- Offer technical support during project planning, delivery, and commissioning stages.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Maintain and update project documentation, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Contribute to product development initiatives and support ongoing improvement projects.
Technical Design Engineer Requirements:
- HND or degree-level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering relevant on the job experience will also be considered.
- Previous experience in a technical design or engineering role within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Must have: skilled in the use of AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar design software.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to meet targets and deadlines.
- Experience with international standards such as IECEx/ATEX is desirable; however, training will be provided.
- Understanding of hazardous area requirements and temperature control systems is an advantage however, is not essential.
