Job Title: Senior Payroll Administrator

Salary: Up to £45,000

Location: Stockport (Office-based, Full-time)

As Senior Payroll Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with UK legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end monthly and weekly payrolls for approx. 3,000 employees, including calculations for overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
  • Ensure accurate application of statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, pensions, student loans)
  • Produce and distribute payslips, P45s, P60s, and P11Ds; submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC
  • Maintain accurate payroll records to support audits and reporting
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes affecting payroll, including tax, minimum wage, and pensions
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees, HR, Finance, HMRC, and pension providers
  • Identify and support process improvements, ensuring data integrity and operational efficiency

What You’ll Bring:

  • Solid experience in payroll
  • In-depth understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC reporting requirements
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • Payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP)
  • Experience working with high-volume or multi-site payrolls
  • Familiarity with pension auto-enrolment and HR/payroll system integrations
