We are recruiting for a Music or Sports Coach Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in North Manchester. This school supports children who often come from challenging, gang-influenced backgrounds. They need a strong, positive role model - someone who can build trust, maintain firm boundaries, and inspire through music, sport, and creative activities.

This role would suit someone who is
Resilient, calm, and confident under pressure
Passionate about making a difference for young people with complex needs
Not easily intimidated, able to manage challenging behaviours positively
Skilled in music (instrumental, rap,production, songwriting) OR sports (coaching, team building, fitness training)
Patient, empathetic, firm, and inspiring

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging music or sports sessions that connect with students
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people through shared activities
Provide emotional and behavioural support across the school day
Maintain clear routines, firm expectations, and strong boundaries
Encourage teamwork, confidence, resilience, and self-expression
Collaborate with teaching, pastoral, and SEN teams to support each student's learning and personal development

Ideal Candidate Background:
Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk young people (SEMH, youth work, alternative provision, sports coaching, residential care, mentoring)
Strong presence with excellent behaviour management skills
Genuine passion for using music, sport, or creative arts to empower young people
Calm, assertive, and emotionally resilient approach to challenging situations
An Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
