Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to work with our Local Authority client in the Stockport area. This is a temporary assignment working 37 hours per week (Mon - Fri).

Main Duties:

  • To manage a caseload and keep accurate case records of work with young people and undertake statutory recordings
  • To contribute to Pathway Plan Assessment and provide ongoing assessment with young  people to inform Pathway Planning
  • To undertake assessments of young people resuming or wishing to resume education/training or presenting with other support needs post 21 years
  • To identify packages of support for young people living in the community and supervise and monitor the delivery of tasks in accordance with the pathway plan to meet young person’s needs
  • To develop and maintain relationships with young people who are or have been looked after and promote regular contact and provide keeping in touch visits.
  • To prepare reports and present at 16+ multi-agency accommodation panel, Child protection conferences, planning meetings, multi-agency adults at risk (MAARS) panel and court as required
  • To empower young people and act an advocate promoting young people’s independence
  • To work in partnership and liaise with a range of agencies including; Early Help & Prevention Service, Education and Careers Advice Service, Police, YOS, Health, Housing, Higher/Further Education providers and others as appropriate
  • To ensure that young people receive appropriate financial support and assist in developing their financial management skills

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of working with care leavers, or relevant experience working with young people
  • Knowledge of Leaving Care legislation and guidance
  • Good assessment and recording skills
  • Understanding of a range of issues related to care leavers/young people
  • Knowledge of child and adult development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise deadlines
  • NVQ Level 3 in childcare or other relevant professional qualification
