Our client is a well-established M&E contractor known for delivering complex, high-value projects across the country. They work with both main contractors and end clients to deliver full design & build packages and high end installations.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering & Estimation

  • Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and schedules to understand project scope.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for projects, including HVAC, public health, and specialist mechanical services.
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and apply unit rates/labour norms.
  • Assess risks and opportunities within the estimate and highlight key commercial considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and company procedures.

Supplier & Subcontractor Management

  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Analyse variances between subcontractor quotes and specifications to determine best value.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with electrical estimators to ensure accurate and coordinated M&E tender submissions.
  • Liaise with in-house engineers, project managers, and design teams to validate solutions.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits, and post-tender reviews when required.

Bid & Proposal Support

  • Contribute to preparation of tender submissions, including technical clarifications and value engineering options.
  • Provide supporting documentation for final bid submissions (breakdowns, assumptions, exclusions).
  • Support negotiations with clients during tender adjudication and post-tender queries.

Commercial Awareness & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates to maintain up-to-date cost databases.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative approaches during estimation.
  • Support continuous improvement of the estimating process and tools used.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services (HVAC, plumbing, public health).
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
