Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commissioning Engineer to join our client's team within the power, transmission, and distribution sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in high-voltage electrical systems and will play a crucial role in the testing, commissioning, and integration of electrical infrastructure, particularly at 11kV and 33kV levels. This role involves ensuring that all systems are installed and functionally tested in line with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute commissioning activities for power systems and substations (up to 33kV).
- Perform functional testing of 11kV and 33kV switchgear, control panels, and protection systems.
- Commission advanced protection schemes including differential, distance, and feeder protection.
- Carry out site acceptance testing (SAT) and factory acceptance testing (FAT) as required.
- Interpret and verify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection settings.
- Interface with project teams, clients, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve commissioning issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, commissioning procedures, and reports.
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and industry standards.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in commissioning within the power, transmission, and distribution sector.
- Proficient in handling 11kV and 33kV switchgear, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong background in control and protection panels for HV substations.
- Well-versed in advanced protection schemes, such as differential and distance protection.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and system diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment and protection relays (e.g., SEL, Siemens, ABB, GE).
- Familiar with industry standards such as IEC, BS, and ENA requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach.
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Relevant certifications in protection and testing (e.g., COMPEX, AP/CP Training, HV Authorisation) are desirable.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to site locations as required.
