This is a unique opportunity to join a growing business as a key leader, driving commercial success and shaping the future of our organisation. As Group Sales Director, you will be at the forefront of our growth strategy, responsible for driving revenue across all divisions and will lead the sales function, from strategic planning and bid management to direct client engagement, ensuring the business maximises market opportunities and secures long-term partnerships. You will work closely with the leadership team, marketing, and operations to deliver a winning commercial strategy.

Accountabilities

  • Sales Strategy & Leadership - Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and market expansion.
  • Lead business development efforts across multiple service lines, sectors, and regions.
  • Identify and capitalise on emerging market trends, including decarbonisation and retrofit opportunities.
  • Client Engagement & Direct Sales - Act as a key commercial ambassador, building relationships with housing developers, local authorities, housing associations, and private sector clients.
  • Drive new business by promoting the full range of services and securing high-value contracts.
  • Develop long-term partnerships that ensure repeat business and sustainable growth.
  • Bid Management & Tender Strategy - Oversee the bid team, ensuring high-quality, competitive submissions.
  • Lead win strategies for key tenders, including bid writing, pricing, and negotiation.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure proposals are technically and commercially compelling.
  • Team Leadership & Development - Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales and bid team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and client-first thinking.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to ensure seamless service delivery and profitability.
  • Performance & Reporting - Monitor sales KPIs, bid success rates, and pipeline performance, reporting to the Board.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve win rates.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work with Marketing to refine brand positioning, messaging, and lead-generation strategies.

Experience

  • Proven track record in senior sales leadership, driving revenue growth across multiple business divisions.
  • Strategic sales planning expertise, with experience developing and executing high-impact sales strategies to meet targets and expand market share.
  • Extensive client engagement experience, building relationships with key stakeholders (housing developers, local authorities, housing associations, private sector clients).
  • Demonstrated success in securing high-value contracts and fostering long-term commercial partnerships.
  • Bid & tender management leadership, overseeing competitive submissions, win strategies, pricing, and negotiations.
  • Experience leading and mentoring high-performing sales/bid teams, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Data-driven decision-making, with experience tracking KPIs, pipeline performance, and bid success rates to refine strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen, ensuring proposals are both technically and commercially compelling.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to act as a key commercial ambassador for the business.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to business development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially astute, with a focus on growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Experience of work with the social housing sector (preferred).
  • Expertise in decarbonisation/retrofit projects (preferred).
