Our client are a logistics business, offering transport & warehousing services to their customers. The HR Manager will be responsible for taking full ownership of the HR function and leading the people strategy. This will be a very hands-on role.The key responsibilities for the role of HR Manager based in Stoke-on-Trent will be:
  • Take full ownership of the HR function and lead the people strategy.
  • Report directly to the MD, having responsibility for building a professional and compliant HR operation from scratch ncluding performance, discipline, and grievance processes.
  • Work closely with Directors and Senior Managers in the business.
  • Write, implement, and maintain legally compliant HR policies and procedures.
  • Improve employee onboarding to ensure consistency, compliance, and a great first impression.
  • Compile accurate, compliant employee records, contracts, and templates.
  • Introduce new performance review and appraisal systems.
  • Manage holiday, absence, and time off tracking.
The successful candidate for the role of HR Manager based in Stoke-on-Trent will have:
  • Experience in a standalone or lead HR role.
  • Great knowledge of UK employment law and HR compliance.
  • Proven experience in setting up HR policies, systems, and documentation from the ground up.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
