About the Role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Maintenance team as an Apprentice Mechanical Maintenance Technician. This role offers hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment used in our manufacturing operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers while completing a nationally recognized apprenticeship standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on mechanical equipment, including hydraulic systems, conveyors, and production machinery.
  • Support fault diagnosis and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Learn to interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Carry out routine inspections and lubrication tasks under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Participate in off-the-job training and complete all coursework required for the apprenticeship.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong interest in mechanical engineering and maintenance.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles (advantageous but not essential).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4x GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science.
  • Eligibility to enroll in the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (ST1426) apprenticeship standard.
