Production Team Leader

Location: Talke

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 4pm

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £35,000 per annum

The role:

We are recruiting for a Production Team Leader for our client based in Talke, to oversee the daily execution of production, delivery, and despatch plans across all production streams. This is a hands-on role that involves both physical tasks and light administrative duties. The successful candidate will be expected to manage their time effectively throughout the day to ensure all operations, quality standards, and Health and Safety requirements are consistently met in line with business objectives.

Main duties:

  • Overseeing a team of four Production Operatives to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all plant and equipment at all times
  • Act as the first point of contact for shift operators requiring guidance or support during the absence of the Production Manager
  • Take responsibility for the onboarding and training of new operators, ensuring all training records and documentation are properly completed and signed off
  • Adhere to all process and quality procedures and ensure documentation is accurately maintained; escalate any deviations or issues to the relevant manager or department promptly
  • Proactively minimize product loss and waste through the application of efficient manufacturing practices
  • Take ownership of in-process procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Completion and accuracy of process paperwork and documentation
  • Material and product testing in line with quality control standards
  • Monitoring and managing stock control
  • Setup and calibration of production machinery in accordance with the production schedule
  • Accurate product labelling in line with customer-specific requirements
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organization to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
  • Effectively communicate any observed issues or suggestions for improvement to the appropriate departments, including maintenance and Health & Safety
  • Support site security by opening and locking up the facility as required
  • Work collaboratively as part of the wider production team to ensure all operators are supported and working in a safe and compliant manner

Experience:

  • Valid FLT (Counterbalance) license with practical experience
  • Experience operating Teletruck equipment
  • Certified First Aid training and practical application in a workplace setting
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety practices and procedures
  • Experience with internal audits and stock-taking processes
  • Familiar with quality managements systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
