PURCHASING SPECIALIST

MONDAY - FRIDAY: 9:00AM - 5:00PPM (FLEXIBILITY REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMER NEEDS)

£35,000 PER ANNUM, DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE

People Solutions are pleased to be supporting our client based in Hanley, Stoke on Trent with the recruitment of a Purchasing Specialist.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Manage purchase orders for raw materials and packaging to meet manufacturing and customer demands
  • Analyse MRP data to respond to changes in supply needs
  • Maintain daily communication with production teams and suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries
  • Update internal systems with accurate purchasing and supplier information
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance, including non-conforming material issues
  • Handle base oil pricing, forecasting, quotas, and usage reporting
  • Support new supplier approvals and price list updates
  • Collaborate with Commercial Divisional Heads and R&D teams to ensure continuity of quality supply and reduce supplier dependency
  • Share critical supplier information with customer-facing staff
  • Undertake project-based work aligned with business strategies and initiatives
  • Travel regularly, including weekly overnight stays, to visit customer sites

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with experience interpreting MRP data
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate purchasing records and reports
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing or supply chain environment
  • Experience in vendor performance analysis and base oil management
  • Knowledge of procurement systems and ERP software
