Academics are currently looking for Performing Arts & Drama Instructors for a variety of opportunities within our client Staffordshire & Cheshire secondary schools from September 2025.

Instructors can be utilised in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They have a subject specialism and they are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days) or they may also be required to cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness or for any other absences.

The benefits of working as a Performing Arts/Drama Instructor in a secondary school include:

  • Along with your subject specialism, you can support a wide variety of subjects across the curriculum!
  • Work alongside successful practising teachers to develop your education knowledge further.
  • Flexible working - only want to work 3 days one week, but 5 days the next? Not a problem.
  • Our opportunities are great as they allow our instructors and teachers to be flexible with the days that they wish to work, and ideally these roles could lead to more long-term and permanent roles in some of our schools.

As an Academics Performing Arts/Drama Secondary Instructor, you will:

  • Hold a Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) qualification with a Performing Arts/Drama specialism. It is desirable if you hold QTLS alongside your PCET, but this is not essential for this particular role.
  • Or, hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (Bachelor's Degree, Professional Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship, etc…) with a Performing Arts/Drama specialism.
  • Be familiar with the National Curriculum and the Performing Arts programmes of study.
  • Have good classroom presence and excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools.
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service or to be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).

If you hold the relevant experience above and you wish to be considered for our exciting Performing Arts & Drama teaching opportunities from the new academic year in September, please click 'APPLY NOW' below to submit your most up to date CV for immediate review.

Academics are dedicated to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect every candidate to share this commitment. Assignments are subject to safeguarding and child protection screening in line with DfE polices, including right to work, employment references and enhanced DBS checks.

Please be aware that your daily rate will be dependent upon experience, prior qualifications, and the client rate that is currently available.
